Esic Registration

Employees' State Insurance (ESI) is managed and regulated by the Employees' State Insurance Corporation which is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Labor and Employment, Government of India. ESI scheme was introduced for Indian employees which provided monetary, medical, and other benefits from employer to employee.

Eligibility

Who is eligible to get ESI registration in India?

There must be more than 10 employees to be eligible for ESI registration. In some areas, ESI registration is possible for establishments having more than 20 employees. Here are some other criteria that need to be fulfilled in order to get ESI registration.

  • An employee whose gross salary is up to Rs. 21,000 per month can be availed with the help of an employer.
  • The establishment is registered with EPFO.
  • The total contribution to ESI is 6.5% of the gross salary and can be further divided into:
  • 4.75% by the employer
  • 1.75% of the employee
  • For industrial units where there is a possibility of injury or health issues, all those employees whose salary is less than Rs 21,000, need to mandatorily obtain ESI registration.
