Gst E-Invoicing

GST Invoicing has been introduced in India to usher in the digital age from the traditional paper-based systems. eInvoicing can help businesses achieve immense cost savings and efficiencies and speed up business operations. E-invoicing will help reduce the compliance burden for most businesses by eliminating the need for duplication or transfer of the same information from one system to another.

Benefits of eInvoicing

Along with e-invoicing, the invoice information provided to GSTN to generate Invoice Reference Number (IRN) will be used to auto-populate various other systems GST Returns, Input Tax Credit Reconciliation, E-way Bill, and GST Refund. Hence, GST eInvoicing will improve the ease of doing business and reduce the compliance burden.

The proposal to implement eInvoicing was placed before the 35th meeting of the GST Council in June 2019. GST Council in principle launched a pilot project on a voluntary basis for the online generation of B2B e-invoices from January 2020.

The Government has exempted certain categories of persons from the implementation of e-invoicing through notification No. 13/2020-Central Tax dated 21st March 2020. As per the notification, the following entities are exempted from the above implementation timeline.
