One Person Company in India is a new concept that has been introduced with the Companies Act of 2013. A-One Person Company in India is incorporated by a single person. Before the enactment of the Companies Act 2013, not a single person was able to set up a company. An OPC has the characteristics of a company and the benefits of a sole proprietorship. Earlier if a person had to set up a business then he should opt for sole proprietorship only.

As per Section 2 (62) of the Companies Act 2013, a company can be formed with only 1 director and 1 member. One Person Company registration in India is a type of entity having lower compliance requirements as compared to a private limited company.
