FSSAI Registration is required for any food business in India that produces, stores, transports, or distributes food. You may require this registration or license depending on the size and nature of your business. In this Registration, the FBO (Food Business Operator) gets a 14 digit number. After getting a FSSAI certificate in India, one can get many benefits, like building a goodwill of the business, ensure food safety, business expansion, and investments.  

What is FSSAI Registration?

Every person dealing with the food business, like manufacturing, processing, storage, or any other things related to food products need to obtain this Registration or License. It is a 14-digit registration or a license number that must be printed on all the packets of food products. Types of FSSAI Registration

This registration is based on the type of the business, turnover and quantity of production. Mainly there are three types of food registration in India.

 

FSSAI Basic Registration- It is mandatory for the food businesses that have an annual turnover of less than Rs.12 lakh. To get this registration, you need to fill a Form A.

FSSAI State License - Food businesses that have an annual turnover of more than Rs.12 lakh but less than Rs.20 crore need to obtain the FSSAI registration. In order to get a FSSAI state license, one has to fill Form B.  

FSSAI Central License- It is obligatory for the FBOs having an annual turnover of more than Rs.20 crore to obtain this license. You can obtain it by filling the Form B.

Documents Required For Online FSSAI Registration

  • List of Directors/Partners/Proprietor/Member of Society/Trust with full addresses, contact details, and nomination of an authorized signatory.
  • Government-issued Photo ID and address proof of the FPOs.
  • Proof of premises of the business, like sale deed, rent agreement, electricity bill.
  • Partnership deed or self-declaration (for proprietorship) or MOA & AOA of the company is needed for online FSSAI registration.
  • Water test report or NOC from a government authority or any other documents as demanded by FSSAI.
  • Any other documents (if required), such as NOC issued by Municipality or Panchayat, NOC of health department, etc.
  • Documents required for online FSSAI registration are Government issued Photo ID, such as AADHAAR, PAN, Voter ID, etc., and Proof of the business activity address (if different from the address on the Photo ID Card).

Step Wise Process For Getting a FSSAI Certificate In India

The online FSSAI registration process is easier in comparison with the offline FSSAI registration procedure. Let us guide you through it.

  • Go to the FSSAI site.
  • When the page opens click on ‘Sign up’ which is on the top right of the screen.
  • A sign-up form will appear. Fill in your contact details.
  • Once you sign-up successfully, you will get a message ‘Account successfully created.’ You will also get a sign-up confirmation message on your mobile as an SMS and via e-mail as wellfor FSSAI registration.
  • You now have an online account with FSSAI. This account is valid for 30 days only so make sure you apply for an FSSAI license within 30 days.
  • When you are going to apply for FSSAI registration, login into your FSSAI account with your username and password.
  • Fill in the details in the application form of FSSAI registration(Form A or B). It will take some time and make sure that you have the necessary documents on your computer system beforehand.
  • This application can be accepted or rejected by the department within 7 days. If the application is accepted, the food department will grant you a FSSAI certificate in Indiawith the registration number and the photo of the applicant. It takes usually 10-30 days for completing all the process of FSSAI registration.
