In India, a pesticide license is a legal requirement for anyone involved in the production, sale, or distribution of pesticides. This licensing is a mandatory requirement in India for all pesticides to ensure that they are safe, effective, and meet the standards set by the government regulatory bodies for being sold or used in India. The Central Insecticides Board (CIB) and Registration Committee (RC) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare issue the Pesticides Licence in India.
In India, the Pesticides Licence is an essential tool for regulating the use of chemicals that can affect human beings, animals, and the ecosystem. The Insecticides Act of 1968 regulates the licensing, manufacture, sale, and distribution of pesticides in India.

Do employees need a pesticide license to apply pesticides for their employer?
Generally, employees applying pesticides under the direct supervision of a certified applicator do not need their own license but must receive documented safety training and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by law. However, if employees apply RUPs independently or in certain states, they may need certification. Employers are responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, including the Worker Protection Standard (WPS). Always check with your state’s pesticide regulatory agency for specifics.
